Mid West Simon Community is part of the Federation of Simon Communities. Simon is a national organisation covering the island of Ireland but each Simon Community is a separate and autonomous company with a strong local presence; Local people are our board members and part time volunteers.
Our vision is of a society where human rights are paramount and where a just and fair society ensures everyone can safely exercise their right to a home.
Mid West Simon will reach out to people who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or experiencing housing difficulties. We will work with people in the spirit of cooperation and community to provide appropriate quality standards in our care and support and in housing provision. We will campaign for legislative and policy changes in our vision to end homelessness.
At Mid West Simon Community integral to our vision and mission are our values, which we aim to be person centred and rights based; providing quality services and ensuring transparency and accountability:
Mid West Simon Community is affiliated to the National Simon Communities of Ireland. Our Simon community here in the region is also part of the local communities in North Tipperary, Clare and Limerick. Our values reflect how we support people to fully integrate in both our community and the locality.
Social Justice and equality
People who use our services will be informed of their rights in Mid West Simon and in the wider community. We will be proactive in enabling people to claim their human rights, in particular, their right to housing.
We will ensure that we provide a voice to those who are marginalised and disempowered and endeavour to campaign for changes in economic and social policy in Ireland that will end homelessness in our society.
Diversity and Individuality
We will ensure that our services are accessible to under represented groups. Everyone who uses our services will be afforded dignity, privacy, safety and confidentiality. We will strive to uphold the principles of equality and anti-discriminatory practice.
Commitment to Care
Our services will be delivered according to current best practice and quality standards. We will ensure that we employ a continuum of care and provide person centred services appropriate to the level of need required by each person in our care
We aim to approach our work with integrity and transparency. All aspects of our work including governance, service provision, fundraising, spending, human resources and campaigning will be regularly audited and evaluated. We will continually monitor our work and its impact on the people we work with.
Volunteers are an intrinsic part of our ethos. We will ensure that all our volunteers are provided with adequate support and training in the roles within our community. Volunteers accompany paid staff and are vital to the continued success of our organisation.
We will create collaborative partnerships with all those who work to end homelessness. Our primary partners in challenging and ending homelessness are our service users.
